Technical expertise has been mobilized through the 5% Initiative in 2013 and in 2014 at the request of the Regional Steering Committee to support the development of the inter-country component of the Regional Artemisinin Resistance Initiative and to develop the call for proposals for the selection of priority interventions and sub-recipients.
As the second biggest contributor to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, in 2010 France launched a new arrangement for contributing to the Global Fund: the “5% Initiative”. The partners of the 5% Initiative are public-sector, private-sector and non-profit entities or associations. Together, they form the “5% Initiative Network”.
