Malaria is preventable and curable – with the right drugs. The countries of the Mekong – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam – are making great strides in prevention, but drug resistance is a growing threat. One of the causes is counterfeit drugs. These may actually contain no active ingredients, less than the required amount to be effective, or different ingredients than what’s listed on the label.

In Myanmar, the Global Fund supports efforts to get bad drugs off the market. Our partners work with government agencies, retailers, community volunteers and people at risk for malaria to make sure the medicine behind the counter is the real deal. It’s simple: Look for the Lotus.
