Assessing community-based active case detection and treatment of P falciparum and P vivax malaria in high risk populations
Key Activities
• Arm 1: Routine community based intervention.
• Arm 2: Reactive Case Detection (RACD) by VMWs/Community Volunteers using HS RDT and Standard RDT to target groups. Positive cases will be given treatments as per the guidelines. G6PD testing will be performed to p.v cases.
• Arm 3: Focal Mass Drug Administration (fMDA) (G6PD testing and provision of 3-day DHA-PPQ + 14-day Primaquine to those with normal G6PD. Those who are deficient for G6PD will be provided with 3-day DHA-PPQ only). Final drug/ACT for MDA is subject to change conditioned to the approval from ethical committee.
• Baseline and midline formative assessment and mapping: including key informant interviews, focus group discussions and mapping.
• Midline and end-line cross-sectional surveys using Standard RDT, HS RDT, dry blood spot collection for PCR.
