Project Title: Effectiveness of forest-based malaria control interventions in large forests of Cambodia
Donor:
GF-RAI2E grant
Principal Recipient:
UNOPS
Implementing Sub-Recipient:
Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC)
Date:
01 January 2019 to 31 December 2020

Key Activities

• Mapping of hotspots using GIS.
• Baseline and end-line entomology surveys.
• Quarterly MSAT (Mass Screening and Treatment): HS RDT testing followed by treatment of positive p.f cases using ASMQ and single low dose Primaquine, together with vector control kit.
• PCD (Passive Case Detection) through Forest Malaria Workers (FMWs) and health centers using standard RDT. Positive p.f cases will be given ASMQ and single low dose Primaquine, together with vector control kit.
• 5 Follow up and conduct RACD: Reactive Case Detection (FSAT, Focal Screening and Treatment or fMDA, Focal Mass Drug Administration) to the contacts of positive cases identified through PCD. HS RDTs will be used for FSAT. Those who are positive for p.f will be provided with ASMQ and single low dose Primaquine, together with vector control kit that will include LLIHNs and instructions to prevent malaria in forest.
• 6 Surveys to measure malaria prevalence (dry blood spot collection and analysis through PCR)
