Key Activities
Grant Management:
• Train PHD and OD staff on program management
• Semester work plan development workshop at OD level, PHD level and Central level
• Conduct Annual Malaria Review and Planning Conference
• OD Drug store Management Workshop
Case Management:
• Conduct training on surveillance with all PHD/OD staff involved in passive and active surveillance system for elimination [Surveillance for Elimination]
• Health Centre staff investigate case at HH level [Surveillance for Elimination]
• Respond to monitor all active foci following intervention [Surveillance for Elimination]
• Training on smart phone applications for VMWs and HCs [Surveillance for Elimination]
• Train central CNM staff on technical issues related to malaria elimination (CNM)
• Conduct PCR screening and provide IEC/BCC _PCR Materials
• Train PHD/OD/Referral Hospital/HC staff on Case Management in all 99 ODs, MoND and MoIH
• Training and Refresher training (combined) for referral and provincial hospitals on microscopy
• Develop training materials to train all healthcare providers on treatment of uncomplicated and severe malaria and drug resistance monitoring and response
• Conduct mass SMS campaign to deliver IEC/BCC messages throughout the country
• Consultation meeting with stakeholders for IEC/BCC to find key message and IEC/BCC dissemination through mass SMS campaign, TV station as well as community mobilization
• Provide semester provincial supervision for partner areas/ QA for selected VMWs and supervision of elected VMWs in partner area
• Recruitment and monitoring of the new VMW and the replacement of VMWs
• Provide ToT training to PHD/OD, train HC staff, train new recruited VMWs and refresher training existing VMW
• Conduct monthly VMW/MMW meetings and bi-monthly for PPM meeting
• Mapping of private providers for inclusion in the PPM program
• Provide refresher training on the PPM program and PPM ToT to PHD/OD staff/ Refresher training to PPM Providers
• Annual national meeting for PPM Stakeholders
• QA Activity for inspectors for DDF
• Training on smart phone applications for PPM and OD/PHDs
• Outbreak preparedness and response
Vector control
• Develop entomology job aids for foci investigation: Consultant will develop job aids for entomological assessment during foci investigation in 2018 and update in 2020.
• Training on foci investigation to OD/PHD in ODs new to Elimination
• Conduct susceptibility bio-assay of LLINs (Vector control unit)
• Monitor insecticide resistance and residual effect
• Conduct foci investigation, including entomological assessment when needed [Surveillance for Elimination]
• Conduct ToT to PHD/OD staff and train HC staff on IRS in targeted operational districts with active case investigation program
• Spray all households around index case household (15 Houses) in target operational districts with evidence of ongoing local transmission
• Distribution of insecticidal treated nets to static and mobile population through Mas Campaign; and MMP/continuous net distribution
• Regular mobile migrant mapping, and identification of MMWs in hard-to-reach populations for LLINs distribution
• Provide personal protection (forest packs) against malaria for military, police and other hard-to-reach populations in target areas of MoND and MoIH
Health management information systems and M&E
• Produce initial stratify villages
• Refresher training on MIS to PHD/ODs staff
• Maintain MIS and expand MIS system to all military/police facilities for MoND and
• Develop MIS reporting application, upload to all tablets, and regularly update tablets and phone with the latest application + (Mobile Data Management)_PPM
• Distribute Mobile phone with smart features for VMWs, PPM and HC and provide top up card
National health strategies
• Convene District/Provincial/National/Regional Multi-Sectoral Malaria Elimination Committee members meeting
• Conduct meeting with RCAF/police annually to integrate national malaria policies into organizational structures for prevention and care
• Develop and build in the MIS system by using ARC GIS software to generate the estimate malaria accident figure from Geo-located village level data
Procurement strategy
• Support CMS in routine malaria commodities supplies and distributions
• Conduct urgent supply distribution of commodities to OD stores
• Training on tablet-based stock management and VMW QA directly to HC nationwide
