Key Activities

Randomised controlled trial conducted. 1) Monthly chemoprophylaxis with Pyramax among forest goers (military populations along Cambodia-Thai border) 2) Assess protective efficacy of insecticide treated uniforms (ITU) for stopping transmission of MDR malaria in the military 3) Improve access to radical cure (PQ/TQ) to help target Plasmodium vivax malaria elimination G6PD diagnostic training to government staff 1) Provide G6PD diagnostic test training to the government staff and medics 2) Evaluate G6PD screening tests in resource-limited settings under field conditions. Strengthen the pharmacovigilance systems in support of safe deployment of chemoprophylaxis and safe deployment of radical cure in resource-limited settings Pharmacovigilance Components: 2) Pharmacovigilance systems will be strengthened in the military units 3) Build capacity for monitoring of liver safety events (hepatotoxicity) and hemotoxicity (acute hemolysis due to PQ/TQ).
