Project Title: Improving the understanding of environmental conditions which influence malaria transmission in Eastern Kayin State
Donor:
GF-RAI2E grant
Principal Recipient:
UNOPS
Implementing Sub-Recipient:
Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) Package 2
Date:
01 December 2018 to 31 December 2020

Key Activities

• Mapping of land-use/land-cover and monitoring of fluctuations in environmental conditions
• Defining the malaria epidemiological landscape using spatio-temporal analysis; characterization of forest and other environmental risk factors for falciparum malaria; mapping villages and clusters of villages exposed to high risk of persistence of high risks of resurgence/outbreaks
• Analyze and link between vector populations and environmental profiles and mapping of villages with high receptivity
• Development of malaria environmental surveillance system to assist village-level micro-stratification by local health authorities.
